Barack Obama will make his third visit to University of Colorado Boulder Thursday afternoon and Mitt Romney will arrive at Fiddler’s Green in Englewood, Colo., Saturday evening.
It will be Obama’s 12th and Romney’s 16th campaign stop in Colorado in 2012. Ann Romney will be accompanying her husband; it is to be her third campaign stop in Colorado this election.
The Longmont Times-Call endorsement is especially notable. The agricultural suburb of Boulder has both conservative and liberal roots and…
While national polls continue to show President Obama in the lead, “the president seems to be reaching a ceiling at or below 50 percent in many of these states,” political science professor Kenneth Bickers of CU Boulder said. “Polls typically tighten up in October as people start paying attention and there are fewer undecided voters.”
President Obama delivered his first public remarks after the presidential debate at Sloan’s Lake outside of Denver on Thursday morning.
“When I got onto the stage, I met this very spirited fellow who claimed to be Mitt Romney,” Obama said. “But it couldn’t have been Mitt Romney because the real Mitt Romney has been running around the country for the last year promising $5 trillion in tax cuts that favor the wealthy. The fellow on stage last night said he didn’t know anything about that.”
The president continued to list the Republican candidate’s debate answers that struck him as inconsistent with his campaign thus far.
“The man on stage last night, he does not want to be held accountable for the real Mitt Romney’s decisions and what he’s been saying for the last year, and that’s because he knows full well that we don’t want what he’s been selling for the last year,” Obama continued as supporters in the crowd cheered.
“If you want to be president, you owe the American people the truth.”
He headed straight from Colorado to a similar rally in Madison, Wis.
Mitt Romney spoke to the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) in Denver on Thursday. His sons Tag, Craig and Josh appeared on stage with him.
Romney will attend a campaign event with Paul Ryan and country singer Trace Adkins at Augusta Expoland in Fishersville, Va., Thursday evening.
A poll released by the Denver Post on Sunday showed Obama leading by, “a single, statistically insignificant percentage point in a poll with a 4-point margin of error.”
Either way you look at it, Colorado remains a battleground for the final weeks of the 2012 election.
“She stepped on my foot.”
Josh Romney encountered a pair of intrusive female passers-by Thursday afternoon in Boulder, Colo. at a Romney Victory Bus stop there.
One of five of Mitt Romney’s sons, Josh Romney campaigned for his father Thursday in the same state the President Obama visited that day.
The Victory Bus parked and drew a crowd of 150 just minutes away from Obama’s event in Golden, Colo. where the president spoke to 8,400.
